How to Add New Posts to Your Discovery Site?

Overview

The Posts engine allows content teams to maintain an active blog, news feed, or article directory on your marketing homepage. Regularly publishing high-quality articles helps improve your site's Search Engine Optimization (SEO) footprint, drives organic public traffic to your platform, and provides a space to share student success stories or platform feature updates.

Tip: Ensure you have logged into your WordPress Administration Panel (/wp-admin) using an account with Editor or Author privileges before proceeding.

Step-by-Step Implementation

Step 1: Open the Post Authoring Canvas

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard workspace.
  2. From the left-hand navigation sidebar menu, click on the Posts tab.
  3. Click the Add Post button located near t he top of the index directory page.

Step 2: Structure Your Content Layout

A clean, visual block-editing canvas will open. Input your core article elements into the following areas:

  • Post Title (Header Field): Type a clear, engaging headline for your article (e.g., Top 5 Coding Skills Higher Education Predicts for 2027).
  • Body Content (Paragraph Blocks): Click inside the main central workspace to start typing your content. You can hit Enter to create new paragraph blocks, use standard text styling strings (Bolding, Italics), or deploy structural headings (##, ###) to maintain a clean scannable hierarchy.

Step 3: Embed Multimedia Elements

Adding supporting images or videos from your unified platform storage breaks up dense text rows and increases student engagement.

  1. Hover your mouse below any paragraph block and click the plus (+ icon) to open the Gutenberg block selector.
  2. Select the Image or Video tile block.
  3. Choose Media Library to select an asset file you previously hosted within your platform storage grid (up to 150MB), or upload a new graphic asset from your local computer.
  4. Add clear Alt Text inside the graphic parameters panel to describe the image, ensuring accessibility compliance for visually impaired learners.

Step 4: Configure Categories and Featured Thumbnails

Before publishing your article, use the right-hand document configuration sidebar panel to organize your post across your platform's site indexes:

  • Categories: Check the box next to the appropriate topic bucket (e.g., Platform Updates, Student Resources, or Industry News). This ensures the article populates inside the correct filtering feeds on your live storefront layout. If a matching category doesn't exist, click Add New Category.
  • Featured Image: Scroll down to the Featured Image block selector and click Set featured image. Select a high-resolution, horizontal orientation thumbnail graphic. This image acts as the primary cover photo for your post, displaying automatically on your central homepage carousels and blog index list grids.

Step 5: Review and Publish Live

  1. Click the Preview button in the top-right menu toolbar to review how the text, spacing alignment, and imagery layout renders from a learner's perspective.
  2. Once satisfied with the formatting, click the blue Publish button located in the upper-right corner of the workspace.
  3. A confirmation verification prompt will appear. Click Publish a second time to compile the code changes.

The post is live immediately. The platform server dynamically generates a new secure URL for the page and updates your site's centralized blog index layout feed automatically.

Managing and Adjusting Existing Posts

How do I edit a previously published article?

Navigate from your dashboard sidebar to Posts > All Posts. Locate the specific article title row you want to update and click Edit. Implement your text or structural revisions inside the canvas editor and click Update to sync changes live instantly.

How do I unpublish or delete an old announcement?

Go to your master posts directory list, hover your mouse over the target post row, and click the red Trash link. This pulls the post down from your public storefront and places it in an archive bin.

Note: Deleting an informational blog post from your WordPress site cleans up your public marketing catalog without touch-altering any course content configurations, student grade files, or operational tracking databases inside your core LMS player.
